Creativity continues to blur the boundaries between industries, with automotive design influencing fashion, street art shaping technology, and collectible toys becoming platforms for storytelling. At the center of this creative convergence is the ongoing collaboration between Nissan Philippines and internationally acclaimed Filipino artist Quiccs Maiquez, which brings together automotive design, contemporary art, and pop culture through a shared appreciation for creativity.

First unveiled during the Nissan Festival in February 2026, the Nissan-Quiccs collaboration introduced a crossover between automotive culture and collectible art. By reinterpreting Nissan’s design language through Quiccs’ signature visual style, the exhibition offered enthusiasts a different way to experience the brand beyond its vehicles.

Expanding the Collaboration at PIMS

At the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Nissan and Quiccs continued the collaboration with an expanded showcase that further explored the relationship between mobility, design, and self-expression.

Building on the momentum from the Nissan Festival, the latest collection features new artworks inspired by Nissan’s electrified vehicle lineup. Each artwork adopts the same distinctive color palette as its corresponding vehicle, translating Nissan’s design philosophy into contemporary art.

The collection draws inspiration from four models displayed at PIMS: the Nissan X-Trail e-POWER, Nissan Kicks e-POWER, Nissan Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid, and the Nissan Primera EV. Through Quiccs’ artistic interpretation, each vehicle is reimagined as a character with its own personality while retaining visual cues drawn from the original design.

Translating Vehicle Character Into Art

“Each vehicle presented a different creative challenge,” said Quiccs. “The X-Trail e-POWER has a refined and adventurous character; the Kicks e-POWER feels youthful and energetic; the Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid brings strength and capability; while the Primera EV represents a bold vision of the future. I wanted each piece to reflect those unique personalities while maintaining a cohesive visual language across the collection.”

The resulting collection explores how principles such as form, color, and storytelling can be expressed through both vehicle design and collectible art.

For Quiccs, the collaboration also highlights the similarities between automotive design and creative illustration.

“What excited me most about this collaboration was the opportunity to reinterpret Nissan’s vehicles through my own creative lens,” he said. “It’s interesting to see how the same design principles, shape, color, attitude, and storytelling can exist in both automotive design and collectible art.”

Design Beyond the Vehicle

While automobiles and designer toys serve different audiences, both rely on design to create emotional connections. Whether experienced on the road or displayed as part of a collection, thoughtful design can inspire imagination and bring people together through shared interests.

For Nissan, the collaboration reflects a broader effort to engage audiences through creativity and culture.

“At Nissan, design goes beyond vehicles; it’s about creating emotional connections. Our collaboration with Quiccs celebrates creativity and self-expression, bringing together automotive innovation and contemporary art in a way that resonates with enthusiasts, collectors, and culture-driven audiences,” said Yoshinori Kanazawa, president of Nissan Philippines.

Celebrating Filipino Creativity

More than an automotive display or an art installation, the Nissan-Quiccs collaboration celebrates the intersection of mobility, design, and Filipino creativity. By bringing together automotive innovation and contemporary art, the collaboration demonstrates how design can transcend industries, encourage new conversations, and create meaningful connections among enthusiasts, collectors, artists, and pop culture fans.

Visitors to the Nissan display at PIMS were invited to experience a different perspective on mobility, one that highlights creativity as a shared language capable of connecting communities through design and self-expression.
